Excercise, Eat Well, Get Enough Sleep...Sure, Whatever You Say Doc!

I quit smoking. I lost 40 pounds last year. I take a series of vitamins and minerals. I excesise regularly. I watch what I eat and drink. And I try to get the right amount of sleep (hard at times, but I try).

The current picture is a few years old, so really not representative of the "new me." I don't care. I feel great and that's what counts.

Last winter I pulled my back out really bad trying to get a real estate sign loose from the freezed ground. I lost the feeling in my left foot and had to use a cane and was headed for some real serious problems. Nothing conventional worked and I finally wound up having surgery and a wake-up call...get in shape!

The stress level as a real estate agent can often be very high. And we often find ourselves working very long hours and spending less time with our families. Add poor eating habits and poor sleeping habits. Not good, not good at.

My point here is that we all need to take better care of ourselves.

And when you feel better, you work better.

To Your Health!

Good message John.  One of the problems agents have had for years is, although we are "at work" all day, we are not always near the best sources of food.  Fast foods carry outs and quick meals on the road are, in a word, poison, (except, of course, for anything chocolate).

If you're out with a family with little ones and that Golden Arches is in sight, you're doomed to what ever the vendor wants to sell to you.  Even if you graze, everything has those awful chunks of chicken throughout.

DOWN WITH CHICKEN ! ! ! !

I wonder what's in a Taco Bell bean barrito besides the beans??

John, I just read another blog about stress and I think it ties into what you write here:  not taking care of ourselves!  I just quit my job as a family worker because it was becoming so stressful...its important to keep our priorities straight like taking care of ourselves!  That's impressive you are so disciplined now, it's a lot of work but worth it, isn't it?  Thanks for your post!

Good job on the weight loose and quiting smoking.  We have an office rule, vendors are not allowed to bring sweets.  They can bring fruit and juice.  W are trying to be healthy here.

I agree stress can be bad in this business. That is why I took today off from clients and went and picked up my dad and we went fishing. Happy to say caught two 11" trouts and one 8". No stress at all!

Seems you definitely had a relazing day today Todd.  It is so easy to worry about work and forget ot hink of ourselves.  If we don't stop to take care of ourselves, the worse it gets...
